P-3C from Fleet Air Wing 2 and a submarine conducted a multilateral exercise with the U.S. Navy P-8A and Royal Australian Air Force P-8A.

During 3-15 June, P-3C from Fleet Air Wing 2 and a submarine conducted a multilateral exercise with the U.S. Navy P-8A and Royal Australian Air Force P-8A over the Pacific Ocean.
In this exercise, an actual submarine was targeted. Through the exercise, the unit improved its tactical capabilities for Anti-Submarine Warfare and interoperability with the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force.
This exercise is also conducive to “Enhance interoperability and readiness between three countries” which was emphasized in Joint Vision Statement of United States-Japan-Australia Trilateral Defense Ministers Meeting 2022.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
