The 45th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE), JS IKAZUCHI departed from Yokosuka, Japan.

On 5 June, the 45th Deployment Surface Force Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE), JS IKAZUCHI departed from Funakoshi Base, Yokosuka.
On the departure, the Commanding Officer of JS IKAZUCHI, Commander TANAKA Hiroaki said, “Thanks to the international community’s efforts such as the continuous dispatch of naval vessels and aircrafts by various countries to escort ships and conduct surveillance activities in waters off Somalia, the number of piracy incidents in the Gulf of Aden and in waters off Somalia has remained low in recent years. We will put all our efforts into completing our mission by working closely with units dispatched by other countries, building trust and deepening mutual understanding and friendship through visits to coastal nations and exercises with various countries.”
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
