Commander in Chief of Self Defense Fleet had his first conversation with Commander of Ground Component Command and Commander of Air Defense Command.

On May 15, Commander in Chief of Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira, had his first conversation with Commander of Ground Component Command, Lieutenant General TAKEMOTO Ryuji and Commander of Air Defense Command, Lieutenant General SUZUKI Yasuhiko in Maritime Operation Center.
Through the conversation, they reached an agreement to work more closely in peacetime information gathering, surveillance activities, and joint and combined exercises in order to thoroughly respond to any contingency amid an increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan. In addition, they decided to organically integrate various types of each service’s capabilities to effectively conduct cross-domain operations and information operations with a combination of traditional tactics and non-traditional ones in new domains such as space, cyber and electromagnetic spectrum.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and strong deterrence based on a joint operation system and the Japan-U.S. Alliance for the defense of Japan and contribution to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
