The Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23), 3rd Surface Unit, JS KUMANO made a port call at Changi, Singapore.

During 2-6 May 2023, the Third Surface Unit of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2023 (IPD23), JS KUMANO made a port call at Changi, Singapore and participated in International Maritime Defense Exhibition (IMDEX Asia 2023) hosted by Singapore.
It was the first time that our FFM makes a port call at a foreign port.
During the port call, the unit invited Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Mr Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister of State for Defense, Mr. Zaqy Mohamad, Chairman, Defense Science and Technology, Mr. Chan Heng Kee, Chief of Royal Australian Navy, VADM Mark Hammond, and other participating commanders and personnel. In the event, the latest destroyer attracted much attention for its advancement, technical strength and laborsaving system. In addition, the JMSDF promoted mutual understanding and cooperation with each country.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
