IMED23 made a port call at Sihanoukville, the Kingdom of Cambodia.

During 24-26 April 2023, the Indo-Pacific and Middle East Deployment 2023 unit (IMED23: JS URAGA and JS AWAJI) made a port call at Sihanoukville, the Kingdom of Cambodia.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Cambodia that maintain a good relationship.
During the port call, Commander of Minesweeper Division1, CAPT NAKAI Eiichi and each commanding officer visited the deputy governor of Sihanoukville Province, Mr.Cheav Vicheak, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy, ADM Tea Vinh, and Commander of Ream Naval Base, VADM Ouk Seiha. In addition, the unit invited the personnel of the Cambodian Navy to their ships, conducted a damage control training and held various exchange programs such as a sports exchange event to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness for the defense of Japan and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
