Commander in Chief of Self Defense Fleet observed the Mobile Communications Group, JMSDF.

On April 24, Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira, observed a training conducted by the Mobile Communications Group, JMSDF. The mission of the Mobile Communications Group is to provide command and communications functions that are required for JMSDF unit operations. The group engages in various activities including disaster relief deployment and supports for national events such as G20 Summit, and Tokyo Olympics. During the training, the group practiced deploying satellite communication equipment at a heliport of Self Defense Fleet Headquarters under the scenario of a large-scale disaster. The Mobile Communications Group was presented the Prime Minister’s Special Certificate on March 29, for years of its contribution to securing communications between units by conducting maneuver deployment.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains responsiveness, engages in the defense of Japan, and contributes to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies to uphold and reinforce a free and open international order based on the rule of law.
