Air Development Squadron 51 P-3C conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with U.S. Navy CTF72 P-8A.

During April 21, Air Development Squadron 51 P-3C patrol aircraft conducted a Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with U.S. Navy CTF72 P-8A patrol aircraft in the Pacific Ocean. They targeted a JMSDF submarine to improve their tactical capabilities for ASW and interoperability with the U.S. Navy.
Each subordinate force of the Command in Chief, Self Defense Fleet works closely together with its counterpart of the U.S. Navy to strengthen the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance and promote a free and open maritime rules-based order.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
