Visit to Maritime Operations Center by Director, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, U.S. Navy.

On April 13, Director, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, U.S. Navy, Admiral James F. Caldwell Jr. visited Commander in Chief, Self Defense Fleet, Vice Admiral SAITO Akira.
In the conversation, they shared the same awareness about security challenges surrounding Japan and the U.S., and confirmed strong relationship between the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy. VADM SAITO was also briefed on the complete and thorough safety management of nuclear propulsion equipment in the U.S. Navy.
In the end, they agreed to continue to enhance deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
Self-Defense Fleet maintains responsiveness, engage in the defense of Japan and contributes to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
