JS MAKINAMI conducted a JAPAN-ITALY PASSEX with ITS CARLO BERGAMINI.

On 8 April, JS MAKINAMI conducted a JAPAN-ITALY PASSEX with Italian Navy Frigate CARLO BERGAMINI in the Gulf of Aden. Through the exercise, the JMSDF improved its tactical anti-piracy capabilities and deepened mutual understanding with Italian Navy.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan, but also for the realization of rules-based "Free and Open Indo-Pacific", in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
