JS OSUMI, JS HIRASHIMA and JS YAKUSHIMA conducted Japan- U.S. Bilateral Exercise.

From February 27 to March 12, 2023, JS OSUMI, JS HIRASHIMA, and JS YAKUSHIMA conducted Japan-U.S. bilateral exercise with USS AMERICA, USS ASHLAND, USS GREEN BAY and MH-60S in the vicinities of Hiroshima, the west of Kyushu and Okinawa. Through LCAC Cross Deck, Boarding Exercise, and Search and Rescue Exercise, etc., they improved their tactical capabilities and interoperability with the U.S. Navy.
In this way, the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy work closely together to maintain and improve joint response capabilities to various contingencies. In addition, the JMSDF contributes to the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-U.S. Alliance.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" in cooperation with allied navies.
