JS MASHU conducted Interchangeable Logistics Exercise 23-2 with USS BARRY.

On February 23, 2023, JS MASHU conducted Interchangeable Logistics Exercise 23-2 (ILEX 23-2) in the Sea of Japan with USS BARRY, to improve her tactical capabilities and the interoperability with the U.S. navy.
This exercise was to maintain the interchangeability of U.S. and Japanese naval forces to conduct replenishments at sea. Under the strong, long-lasting alliance, Japanese and U.S. naval logistic forces are conducting logistics operations more effectively and efficiently in mutual support of front line units.
Furthermore, this exercise was conducted to acknowledge and appreciate USS BARRY, who has completed her service forward-deployed time in U.S. 7th fleet for nearly 7 years since 2016, and wish her fair winds and following seas to the U.S.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of Japan and the Indo-Pacific region, in supporting of deterrence and the strong Japan-U.S. Alliance.
