JS ATAGO conducted Japan- U.S.-ROK Trilateral Exercise.

On February 22, JS ATAGO, USS BARRY, and ROKS SEJONG THE GREAT conducted in Ballistic Missile Defense exercise in the Sea of Japan to improve tactical capabilities and joint response capabilities.
This exercise demonstrates the commitment of Japan, the U.S., and the ROK for further trilateral cooperation to respond to regional security challenges amid an increasingly severe security environment surrounding Japan, including North Korea’s ICBM-class Ballistic Missile launch that landed within Japanese Exclusive Economic Zone in the Sea of Japan. Moreover, this exercise was conducted to protect shared security and prosperity, and bolstering the rules-based international order.
The Self-Defense Fleet maintains readiness, contributing to the defense of Japan and the maintenance to maritime order based on law, as well as stability in the Indo-Pacific region with U.S. Navy and ROK Navy.
