Escort Division 2 conducted joint training with USS America

November 3, Escort Division 2 conducted joint training with USS America in the East China Sea.
The Commanding Officer of JS ISE, CAPT MIYAZAKI Koji stated, “We enhanced our tactical skills and interoperability between the JMSDF and the U.S. Navy. In addition, the exchange event between sisterships, JS ISE and USS America, provided an excellent opportunity for the ship's crew to deepen their understanding of capabilities of USS America and U.S. Navy culture. We will continue to maintain this kind of friendship and further strengthen cooperation among our units.”
The Commanding Officer of USS America, CAPT Ken Ward stated, “Our mutual ability to come together as a partnered surface action group speaks to the strength and agility of our relationship with the JMSDF. We've done some great things recently with our sister ship, JS Ise, and this was just one more opportunity to grow that relationship alongside the JMSDF's outstanding ships and mariners, and we are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to participate.”
The Self-Defense Fleet remains responsive and enhance our deterrence and response capability through annual joint training, safeguards the peace and security of Japan, and contributes to support stability in the region.
In addition, JS ISE, JS HARUSAME, JS ASAHI, JS HIRASHIMA, JS YAKUSHIMA, JS TAKASHIMA, JS OTAKA and SH-60J/K maritime patrol helicopters participated in this training.
