When disasters strike, the Maritime Self-Defense Force provides assistance by searching for and rescuing the victims and the distressed ships and aircraft, as well as transporting emergency patients and materials for emergency assistance. We also maintain close contact with the related disaster relief organizations during disasters to protect lives and property. We have rescue seaplanes,helicopters, and submarine tenders in readiness to conduct these operations.
