The centers are intended to ramp up vaccine rollout by local governments. About 80 JSDF medical officers and about 200 JSDF nurses and others are being dispatched for the operation of the large-scale vaccination centers, not only from units in the Kanto and Kansai areas and JSDF hospitals but also from units throughout Japan. In addition to the medical officers and nurses, 200 civilian nurses are assigned to the centers. The center in Tokyo can inoculate about 10,000 people a day and the center in Osaka about 5,000 people a day. The MOD/JSDF is the only state organi-zation capable of organizational activities by medical officers, nurses, and other personnel.
