Japan-ASEAN Ship Rider Cooperation Program - A Vientiane Vision Initiative -

The Japan Ministry of Defense will conduct its first Japan-ASEAN Ship Rider Cooperation Program on board the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Ship IZUMO from 19 to 23 June. This program is an initiative of Japan's ''Vientiane Vision'' which was announced by Japan during the ASEAN-Japan Defense Ministers' Informal Meeting in November 2016. Consistent with the guiding principles of the ''Vientiane Vision'', this program, inviting all ASEAN members states, will help contribute to regional stability by providing opportunities for participants to build mutual understanding and professional networks, enhance capabilities related to maritime security and share understanding of international maritime law.

Program Details

1.  Contents
The program will include seminars on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and International Maritime Law, and opportunities to observe various training activities.

A military representative from each ASEAN member state and a representative from the ASEAN Secretariat

3.  Program Period
19 to 23 June 2017

4.  Location
International waters surrounding the Republic of Singapore (on board JS IZUMO)
