Issuance of Order for Operation of the Self-Defense Forces Concerning Maritime Security Operations

1. The Commander in Chief of the Self-Defense Fleet shall organize an air squadron and other SDF units for anti-piracy measures to implement patrol, surveillance, data gathering and provision of information, etc. by P-3C patrol aircraft off the Coast of Somalia and in the Gulf of Aden, and continue operations under Order No. 3 for Operation of the SDF concerning Maritime Security Operations (dated March 13, 2009).
The period of the dispatch of the air squadron and other SDF units for anti-piracy measures shall be from May 18, 2009 to the date to be ordered separately.
2. The Commander of the Air Support Command shall organize an airlift squadron, etc., to airlift necessary materials and others for the air squadron and other SDF units for anti-piracy measures.
3. Commanding Generals of Regional Armies, the Commander of the Central Readiness Force, Commandants of MSDF Regional Districts, etc., shall provide necessary support to the Commander in Chief of the Self-Defense Fleet, and the Commander of the Air Defense Command, etc. shall provide such support to the Commander of the Air Support Command.
