Prince Pickles and Miss Parsley Tour at the MOD 2017

On August 2nd and 3rd, 2017, the MOD had a kids group tour named “Prince Pickles and Miss Parsley Tour at the MOD.” It is part of “Children’s Kasumigaseki Study Tour,” an annual summer event organized by Japanese ministries and agencies, and the event provides a good opportunity for children to visit Japanese governmental organizations and learn about their activities.

Approximately 200 elementary and junior high school students and their guardians participated in the tour in total for two days. Participants first learned about the MOD/SDF organizations and their activities through animation video at Ichigaya Memorial Hall. Later, they practiced JMSDF flag signaling to express “Hello” and “Good bye” with Prince Pickles and Miss Parsley who are MOD/SDF mascots. For lunch, they enjoyed the Prince Pickles and Miss Parsley Tour curry, specially cooked for the tour participants by the GSDF, MSDF and ASDF chefs. In addition, they observed defense equipment and a training of the Honor Guard among other activities.
