MOD/SDF Special Action Committee on the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympics

The first meeting of the MOD/SDF Special Action Committee on the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympics was held on September 10 at the MOD, after Tokyo won the bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. During the meeting, a report was made on the use of the GSDF’s Asaka Training Area as an Olympic and Paralympic venue, on other MOD/SDF cooperation for implementing and ensuring the safety and security of the games, and on athlete training programs.

The committee’s second meeting was held on October 8, welcoming the attendance of Mr. Hirata, the Director of the Office for the Promotion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Special Advisor to the Cabinet. The meeting’s active discussions focused on the report of the SDF Physical Training School’s initiatives for the Tokyo Summer Olympics and specific measures on how to build a strong supporting framework for training and practice at the school.
